Lingnan and Sun Yat-Sen University foster strategic development partnership

The 2nd meeting of the Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) and Lingnan University Cooperative Development Committee was held on 22 December at Lingnan University.  Led by Prof Joshua Mok Ka-ho, Vice-President of Lingnan University and Prof Ma Jun, Vice-President of SYSU, academic and administrative staff of both universities conducted group and plenary meetings.

 

At the meeting, representatives of the two universities followed up on the progress of various projects over the past year, and agreed that substantial achievements had been attained in the areas of student exchange, scholar visits and academic research.  The meeting also discussed five areas including general education, arts (Department of History and Department of Philosophy), business administration (Department of Marketing and International Business and Department of Management), social sciences (Faculty level and Department of Psychology) and graduate studies, so that representatives from both universities can conduct focused exchange and deliberate on collaboration projects and directions for the coming year.

 

Prof Mok and Prof Ma expressed in their concluding remarks that they welcomed the clear direction of cooperation between the two universities in various areas, and looked forward to the ongoing implementation of the projects to promote more student and faculty exchanges as well as academic and research collaborations in order to further deepen the two universities’ comprehensive cooperation.

 

SYSU and Lingnan University signed the “Agreement on Comprehensive Strategic Cooperation Framework” in 2015 to facilitate the strategic cooperation between the two universities, and further concluded a Memorandum of Understanding in October the same year to enhance mutual collaboration with the aim to benefit academics and students of both universities.  The two universities hold the Cooperative Development Committee meeting annually to discuss and follow up on the key areas of cooperation.

 

Sun Yat-sen University
