Young CEO Mr Fok Kai-man shares his vision with Lingnan students
The sharing session “Dialogue with Young CEO: Eyes on the Mainland” was held on 17 May with Mr Fok Kai-man, Vice President of Fok Ying Tung Group and Founder and CEO of Hang Fung (Hong Kong) e-Commerce Limited as guest speaker. Mr Fok shared with 50 Lingnan students who will visit and work as interns in Shanghai and Beijing in the coming eight weeks on the challenges and opportunities in the Mainland. He hoped that Lingnan students will make best use of their learning journeys to explore the rapid development of the Mainland and consider employment opportunities there after graduation.
Based on his personal experience, Mr Fok shared on how to utilise deficiencies of Mainland’s economic environment with a view to bring business opportunities for Hong Kong. Gaining experience from past failure, he took himself as an example and encouraged students to plan their lives ahead, learn from other peoples’ experience and excel themselves under different education systems in order to achieve their goals. He encouraged young people to take up part-time jobs and acquire skills of different job functions before considering whether to start their own businesses, and stay enthusiastic and persistent with their decision.
Mr Fok concluded the sharing session with his reminder for students to keep curious, learn continuously and stay humble. President Leonard K Cheng also attended the sharing session, gave his words of encouragement to students and presented a souvenir to Mr Fok on behalf of the University.
