Shanghai internship brings valuable experience to Lingnan students

20 Sep 2016

Lingnan students who participated in the Shanghai-Hong Kong Future Leaders (Lingnan Elites) Internship Programme 2016 recited and shared the fruitful work and life experience they acquired during their internship in Shanghai at a sharing session on 20 September.

The internship programme, co-organised by Lingnan University and the Hongkong-Shanghai Economic Development Association, managed to provide invaluable internship opportunities to 30 Lingnan students to intern in their desired corporations in Shanghai for seven weeks from June to July.  Apart from first-hand experience on Mainland’s work environment during the internship, the students had enjoyed the various exchange and visit activities including CEO home visits, CEO seminars, exchange with teachers and students from the East China Normal University, visits to Putuo and Changning districts of Shanghai and reception by the district governments, and visit to the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Shanghai of the Government of the HKSAR.  These activities allowed them to understand the development of their home country from different perspectives and broadened their horizon.

The sharing session was officiated by Mr Andrew Yao Cho-fai, Hong Kong Deputy to the National People’s Congress and President of the Hongkong-Shanghai Economic Development Association and Shanghai Hong Kong Association.  Two students Miss Li Mong-ki and Miss Hung Miu-yin who interned in Mary Kay (China) Cosmetics Co Ltd and Nimble Mind respectively shared their life and work exposure in the Mainland.  Li Mong-ki was especially excited when talking about her two mentors in Shanghai, and Hung Miu-yin focused on her public relations work exposure.  Their sharing was well received by all interested students who would like to embark on their career relating to media and PR industries.
