Scholarships & Financial Aid

Government Grants and Loans

For local students, your eligibility to apply for Government Grants and Loans would remain unchanged during the term on exchange as long as you pay tuition at Lingnan (as required by SEP).

For details about the eligibility, please visit the website of Student Finance Office (SFO) and the relevant section in Tertiary Student Finance Scheme - Publicly-funded Programmes: Guidance Notes available at SFO Forms & Download.

Scholarships & Financial Aid

With generous support of our donors, there are a number of scholarships and financial aid available to eligible SEP participants. Application for scholarships and financial aid opens at a specific period from March to April every academic year.

Scholarships are awarded to selected students with outstanding academic performance, high language proficiency, active participation in extra-curricular activities and community services. Need-based financial aid is established to provide financial assistance to needy students. Presence of solid proof of having financial needs like the result of Application for Financial Assistance under TSFS is required.

You will be invited to attend Information Session on Exchange Scholarships and Need-based Financial Aid Schemes to be held annually in March. For specific dates of information session and application deadline, please refer to our Latest News. To apply for both scholarships and financial aid, submission of one application will serve the purpose. OGE will assign applicants with appropriate scholarships and/or financial aid according to their financial needs and academic standing.

Schemes of EDB Subsidy

Education Bureau (EDB) has introduced subsidy schemes to support local students with means-tested grant to participate in exchange activities outside Hong Kong, namely the Enhanced Scheme on Subsidy on Exchange for Post-secondary Students (Enhanced SSE) and Scheme for Subsidy on Exchange to “Belt and Road” Regions for Post-secondary Students (SSEBR). Outgoing students receiving means-tested student financial assistance from Student Finance Office (SFO) of the Working Family and Student Financial Assistance Agency or whose families are in receipt of the Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) are eligible to apply for the subsidy.

The amount of subsidy depends on the approved level of student finance (i.e. percentage of full grant), destination of your exchange, duration of your exchange and availability of the fund.

Eligible students will receive emails regarding application procedures in due course. Applicants should submit application forms together with their copy of approval letter from Student Finance Office (SFO).
