According to Environmental Protection Department (HKEPD), in the year 2009, Hong Kong citizens generated 13,000
tones of municipal solid waste (MSW) everyday. Among them, 40% were came from domestic field and many of them were recyclable materials. These findings thrown the issue "Waste Management" into limelight. Facing the
unnegligible health effects and environmental impacts associated with the numerous amount of waste, they reminded us the need to change our life-style in order to promote the sustainability of our living environment. Therefore, educating the public the proper ways to manage wastes is a key and critical step to enhance the quality of life.
The Office of Service Learning (OSL) always offers learning opportunities for students through serving to the community. To echo the motto of Lingnan University, "Education for Service", and to arouse public concern about waste management, a program Waste Management Project for Promoting Green Leaders in Tuen Mun District 2010-2011 launched in September 2010!
