Lingnan student took home precious experience from Foreign Affairs Summer Camp in Beijing and Vietnam

Congratulations to Oswin!

Oswin Wong Chui, a third-year student majoring in Accounting and minoring in Risk and Insurance Management at Lingnan University, recently took part in the 9th Friends of Diplomacy Summer Camp organised by the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in Hong Kong. He was among the 50 local university students selected to take part in the annual summer event. Led by Mr Song Ru’an, Deputy Commissioner of the Foreign Ministry Office in Hong Kong, the students went to Beijing and Vietnam, a Belt and Road country, to get a deep understanding of the latest development of China and its foreign affairs. It was also an opportunity for the young people to enrich their experience and broaden their horizons through liberal art education.

During the trip, Oswin participated in the Model Press Conference Competition and took home two awards, namely the Best Questioning Team Award and the Best Diplomat Calibre Spokesperson Award. He and other students also had the opportunity to meet Mr Lu Kang, spokesperson and Director-General of the Information Department of the Foreign Ministry, who shared with the young people his experience as a diplomat. The summer camp is designed for students from all eight University Grants Committee-funded universities in Hong Kong, as well as the self-funded Shue Yan University and the Open University of Hong Kong.
