Simon Lau is the Department's part-time teacher although he has been working at Lingnan for ten years. Before Lingnan he worked for the Language Training team at HSBC and also trained staff at Hang Seng Bank. In addition to maintaining his links with Hong Kong's financial institutions, he also works for other academic organisations  and provides training for the Hong Kong Government . His first degree was from Warwick University in England and he gained his TESOL qualification from Dartford in England in 1994. Regarding his academic interests, Simon mentions, “As I am mixed-race, I am interested in the cross-cultural aspects of language learning and enjoy utilising my bi-cultural understanding in the classroom whenever I can.”
