In light of the latest development of the novel coronavirus epidemic, the University has decided to extend face-to-face class suspension until Sunday 1 March 2020 (inclusive). Real-time online teaching supplemented by e-learning is to be adopted during the suspension.

The “work from home” arrangement for staff who do not have essential duties on campus will also be extended to Sunday 9 February 2020 (inclusive). Heads of department/office/unit may exercise discretion in asking staff members to remain on duty and keep their offices in operation if they deem it necessary. As the operation of academic and non-academic departments/offices/units will be affected, use of email communication is advised.

Until the resumption of face-to-face classes, local students are strongly advised to stay at home instead of returning to the campus and hostels. Non-local students are urged to stay in their place of residence or lodgings. Students who are currently in the Mainland are urged to stay where they are until face-to-face teaching resumes.

Students and colleagues returning from the Mainland are requested to complete an online declaration form (For students: please click here.  For staff: please click here) before coming to the campus. They will be informed of the preventive measures taken by the University.

The University continues to monitor and assess the situation and will introduce additional safeguards as and when necessary. Further adjustments to the academic calendar will be announced as necessary.
