Following the latest announcement made by the HKSAR Government, the Health, Safety and Environment Committee would like to update colleagues and students on the following:

Maintaining the Social Distancing Measures under Prevention and Control of Disease Ordinance (Cap.599)

As the COVID-19 epidemic situation in Hong Kong remains serious, the Government has decided to adopt the social distancing measures currently in place under the Prevention and Control of Disease Ordinance. The Government will review the various measures in place from time to time in accordance with the latest developments of the epidemic situation and risk assessments, to allow social and economic activities to resume.

  • Catering business and scheduled premises: Catering business premises will cease to provide dine-in services from 10:00p.m. to 4:59a.m. of the following day. No more than four persons may be seated together at one table within any catering business premises.
  • Mask-wearing requirement: The mandatory mask-wearing requirement under Cap. 599I will remain valid.
  • Group gathering: Group gathering with more than four persons in public places will be prohibited.

Specified Conditions Imposed on Inbound Travellers

The Government has implemented the tightened commercial flight suspension mechanism to address the risk of importing mutant strains of COVID-19 from very high-risk places and will review whether stricter restrictions on people arriving at Hong Kong are warranted.

Encourage Use of Community Testing Centres and Mobile Specimen Collection Stations for Testing

There are 21 community testing centres providing self-paid testing services to the public for general community or private purposes (such as certifications for travelling or work); and free testing services for persons subject to compulsory testing or targeted groups requiring testing. Booking and walk-in services are available at community testing centres. The 24-hour booking system (www.communitytest.gov.hk/en) shows the booking status of testing centres for the coming week, and members of the public can choose the testing centre and time slot suitable for them. The centres would accord priority to serve individuals with advance bookings. Members of the public may call the centres for enquiries on the availability of booking or walk-in quotas before visiting. The closest one to our campus is Siu Lun Community Hall.

Vaccination Information

To safeguard public health and to allow the gradual resumption of normal activities of society, the Government is implementing a territory-wide COVID-19 Vaccination Programme, free of charge, to all Hong Kong residents in phases.

To facilitate the public's identification of the correct venue for vaccination, each of the community vaccination centres (CVCs) and designated general outpatient clinics of the Hospital Authority have been assigned a unique code number. The code number for venues administering Sinovac vaccine will start with the prefix "S", while those for BioNTech vaccination will start with the prefix "B". For example, S01 is the code number of the Hong Kong Central Library CVC which administers Sinovac vaccine, and B02 is the code number of the Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park Sports Centre CVC which administers BioNTech vaccine. SMS messages for persons to be vaccinated will also start right-away with the code number of the vaccination venue chosen. In addition, the CVCs will also display their code number at prominent positions at the venue entrance. These arrangements will help reception staff and the public alike to tell whether the latter has come to the correct vaccination venue.

Health Advice

As there were several confirmed cases reported in Tuen Mun recently, all members are advised to maintain at all times strict personal and environmental hygiene which is the key to personal protection against infection and prevention of the spread of the disease in the community.

  • All members are advised to keep social distancing with others, reduce the frequency of all mask-off activities, and maintain personal hygiene.

  • To assist contact tracing, keep a diary of your schedule, for example, write down the taxi license plate number you take. You may also use the “LeaveHomeSafe” mobile app to keep your visit records.

  • All members should wear mask as far as feasible and keep appropriate social distance with others when in common facilities (e.g. common room, conference room, pantry etc.). In case wearing mask is not feasible, for example when having meal or shower or performing heavy manual work, please keep at least 1.5 meters with others.
