Lingnan C. Connects – 服務社會 ‧ 成就視野

 

Objectives:

At the end of the activity, students will be able to:

  1. Understand the background, details and operation of the Lingnan C. Connects Programme;
  2. Recognize the rewarding experience of community services through sharing of Lingnan C. Connects crew members; and
  3. Elevate the interest and commitment towards volunteerism.

 

Description: 

With the University’s motto "Education for Service", community service is always an integral part of campus life. The University always tries every means to provide students opportunities to care for the welfare of the community. Come to know more how we join hands with our students, staff, and alumni to connect their community service experiences, together with their own potential and lifelong goal to serve the society as a whole.

Introductory Session of the "Lingnan Foundation W.T. Chan Fellowships Program"
Lingnan C. Connects – 陳氏學者獎學金簡介會

 

Objectives:

At the end of the activity, students will be able to:

  1. Understand the background, details and operations of the Lingnan Foundation W.T. Chan Fellowships Program; and
  2. Elevate the interest and commitment towards social needs.

 

Description: 

Lingnan Foundation W.T. Chan Fellowship award will cover all aspects of the internship in United States, including international and domestic travel, housing, visa expenses, insurance, and a stipend to cover living expenses. Each Fellow is assigned to work at a non-profit organization in the United States that addresses a critical social need. With support and guidance from program organizers, the internships are designed to help the Fellows gain practical experience in service work and inter-cultural cooperation.

Inclusion Ambassador Briefing 2023

Objectives:

At the end of the activity, students will be able to:

  1. Acquire basic understanding of types of special educational needs (SEN); and
  2. Strengthen awareness about people who have special needs.

 

Description: 

In the briefing, students will know more about the Inclusion Ambassador programme. The speaker will share basic concepts of special educational needs (SEN), training elements and service projects throughout the ambassador programme.

Objectives:

  1. Understand the importance of university life and career planning;
  2. Know how to make proper career planning and preparation at university stage; and
  3. Grasp and utilize related resources in the University to act.

 

Description: 

Participants will learn the practical career planning strategies from an outsatnding alumnus who grabbed six promising positions from reputable companies/government departments in his graduation year. This event would definitely benefit to students' career management and preparation at an early stage.

Objectives:

Description: 

Effective communication is the key to a fruitful university life. A healthy interpersonal relationship helps to improve communication and work efficiency. This workshop offers students an opportunity to meet with students from different cultural background. Besides expanding their social circle, this also helps them to broaden their lifestyle.

Let Yourself Shine: Understanding Personalities, Emotions and Relationships
散發光彩 - 認識自己個性, 情緒及人際關係

 

Objectives:

At the end of the activity, students will be able to:

  1. Become familiar with energy and its manifestations in one's personality;
  2. Understand how energy informs emotions; and
  3. Tune in with energies and use them to connect with other people.

 

Description: 

The workshop explores the five wisdom energies and their effect in our interactions with others. Energies manifest in posture, emotional tones and personality types as well as in the environment. By knowing more about one's energy style and how they express in personality traits, it helps one to embrace who we are.

Swimming Workshop (Beginners)
游泳工作坊 (入門)

 

Objectives:

At the end of the activity, students will be able to:

  1. Learn the safety measures in swimming pool;
  2. Float in water; and
  3. Proceed to learn swimming.

 

Description: 

Learning how to float is the first lesson in learning how to swim. You need to relax your body, let go of your fears and give yourself to the water. In this workshop, you will be taught how to float in water.

Swimming Medley (Elementary)
四式游泳 (初班)

 

Objectives:

At the end of the activity, students will be able to:

  1. Learn the safety measures in swimming pool;
  2. Swim with basic skills; and
  3. Continue to improve swimming skills.

 

Description: 

Swimming is an individual or team sport that requires the use of one's entire body to move through water. In this course, the four major swimming styles (Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke, and Freestyle) will be taught.

Fitness Workshop
健身室工作坊

 

Objectives:

At the end of the activity, students will be able to:

  1. Point out the safety guidelines and training theories of lifting;
  2. Practice the most suitable sets of training and lifting equipments; and
  3. Obtain the qualification for using the fitness room.

 

Description: 

This workshop is designed to teach students to understand the methods of training the body muscles and theories of controlling weight. The instructor will lead the students to practice different training procedures in response to the individual needs and abilities of the students. After completing this workshop, students are qualified to use the university’s fitness room.

"Press to Shock - Save a Life" CPR & AED Course
「擊活人心」— 心肺復甦法及自動心臟除顫器課程

 

Objectives:

At the end of the activity, students will be able to:

  1. Point out the basics of the first-aid protocol;
  2. Be confident to save lives in the event of emergencies; and
  3. Promote the importance of CPR and AED.

 

Description: 

Whenever a cardiac arrest takes place, every second counts. The best action is to deliver a shock via defibrillator. Otherwise, the survival rate decreases by 7% to 10 % in each following minute. To uplift the survival rate, the Hong Kong Fire Services Department undertakes to train members of the public in using defibrillators for free. A certificate of attendance will be issued to the students.

Wellness Programmes at a Glance

Objectives:

At the end of the activity, students will be able to:

1. List out the contents of Wellness Programmes;

2. Choose the programmes based on their interest; and

3. Understand the importance of achieving Wellness.

 

Description: 

In every term, OSA offers many wellness programmes including physical wellness and emotional wellness. Students can learn about the contents of the programmes and make a good choice in the ILP registration period.

Introduction to Graphic Design Software and Techniques
平面設計軟件及技巧入門

 

Objectives:

At the end of the activity, students will be able to:

  1. Understand the purpose and applications of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop;
  2. Familiarize themselves with the software interfaces; and
  3. Utilize key tools and perform basic functions in both software programs.

 

Description: 

Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop are a common application for graphic designing. This course is designed for real beginners who are interested in creating your own artworks but without no prior knowledge of graphic softwares. You’ll get familiar with the software overview and you won’t panic when you open the softwares.

Introduction to Video Production and Editing Techniques

Objectives:

At the end of the activity, students will be able to:

  1. Understand the fundamental concepts underlying video production and editing;
  2. Acquire techniques in navigating basic editing software; and
  3. Demonstrate practical skills in digital editing through hands-on exercises.

 

Description: 

During this introductory workshop, our instructor will guide you through the fundamental concepts and techniques of video production and editing. Students will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on exercises and gain insight into the art of film editing. By the conclusion of the course, students are encouraged to apply their newfound skills and create their own short videos.

Sustainable Campus – A Guided Tour to Introduce Biodiversity in Lingnan

 

Objectives:

At the end of the activity, students will be able to:

1. Understand the concept of biodiversity and sustainability;

2. Realise the social and environmental impacts brought by human activities;

3. Raise awareness of sustainable development and eco-system on campus; and

4. Appreciate the biodiversity in Lingnan Campus.

 

Description: 

Biodiversity is the variability among living organisms. This variability is not only important for organisms to adapt to changes in their physical environment and perform different roles and functions in their living milieu; humans also derive a wide range of benefits from biodiversity. This tour will introduce the concept of biodiversity and sustainability through exploring and appreciating the biodiversity on campus.

Non-violent Communication and Conflict Management in Student Hostels

 

Objectives:

At the end of the activity, students will be able to:

1. Understand the importance of non-violent communication; and

2. Develop a good understanding and application of conflict management in hostels.

 

Description: 

Hostel experience prepares a better transition for young adults to emerge from protected teenagers. Students will learn independence, interpersonal skills, sense of community and responsibility through living with roommate(s), floor mates and community life in hostels. This workshop will introduce the tips of non-violent communication and conflict management in student hostels.
