Professor CHIU Tuen Yi, Jenny is a sociologist specializing in migration, gender, marriage, family, and ageing. She obtained her Ph.D. from the Department of Sociology, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. She has joined Lingnan University since August 2019. Prior to that, she was Research Assistant Professor at The University of Hong Kong (2019) and Postdoctoral Fellow at the Asia Research Institute (ARI) at National University of Singapore (NUS; 2017-2018). From 2014-2015, she was a Visiting Fellow at Harvard-Yenching Institute, Harvard University.

Her current research projects include 1) Intergenerational Migration Decision-Making, 2) Transborder Mobilities of Older Adults, and 3) Transnational ageing and Chinese Grandparenting Migrants, 4) Cross-Border Marriage Migration, and 5) Social Innovation in Higher Education. She is also interested in intimate partner violence and family care issues. She has published articles in Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, International Migration Review, Population, Space and Place, Annals of the American Association of Geographers, Geoforum, Social Science Research, Current Sociology, Asia Pacific Viewpoint, Violence Against Women, Gender, Place, and Culture and Citizenship Studies. Methodologically, she is interested in exploring the integration of qualitative and visual methods.
