Professor Tejaswini Niranjana wins DSC prize for South Asian Literature

Congratulations to Professor Tejaswini Niranjana on winning the DSC Prize for South Asian Literature, which she shared with Jayant Kaikini, the author of No Presents Please, the book she translated into English. The prestigious prize rewards the best writing on South Asian culture from writers of any ethnicity and from all over the world. No Presents Please is a collection of stories set in Mumbai and this is the first time a translated work has won in the prize’s eight-year history.   The chair of the judging panel, Rudrangshu Mukherjee, praised Tejaswini Niranjana, Professor and Head of the Department of Cultural Studies, for her “outstanding contribution”.
