LU partners with Tuen Mun Hospital to promote gerontechnology for World Alzheimer's Month

Lingnan University was invited by Tuen Mun Hospital to organise activities for World Alzheimer's Month, an international campaign which takes place every September to raise awareness and challenge the stigma that surrounds dementia.

On 21 September, World Alzheimer's Day, Mrs Kao May Wan Gwen, chairman of the Charles K. Kao Foundation, came to the Lingnan campus and engaged with the audience via Zoom. Dr Au Yeung Tung-wai and Dr Lau Chi-cheung from Tuen Mun Hospital also spoke about the disease and the collaboration between healthcare and social services providers.

A virtual tour of the LU Jockey Club Gerontech-X Lab, an initiative of the LU Jockey Club Gerontechnology and Smart Ageing Project, was given after the talk, showing how technology can assist people with dementia and their carers, and how gerontechnology ambassadors Fai Kee and Nancy apply gerontechnology expertise in their community service.
