Issue No. 73 Nov 2017
Mr Marc LeBane, Senior Lecturer and English Language Support Service (ELSS) Coordinator of Lingnan’s Centre for English and Additional Languages, received the merit of “Honorable Mention” in this year’s Turnitin Global Innovation Awards for Asia in the category of Writing with Integrity.
With a hope to address the importance of originality in writing among students, Mr LeBane adopts a positive teaching strategy rather than a punitive policing tactic. By developing a holistic learning process to identify problems and guide improvement, he is helping students become better writers and estimates that this approach has eliminated about 98% of academic integrity cases in his department.
