Tuen Mun primary school students experience university life at Lingnan

Lingnan University hosted the “A Day at University” campus visit for over 100 students from 11 primary schools in Tuen Mun on 9 March, which offered them the opportunity to experience university life at the campus of Hong Kong’s liberal arts university.  The activity also served to strengthen the University’s connections with its neighbouring communities.

The event has been organised for seven consecutive years with Lingnan University, Tuen Mun District Youth Programme Committee and Tuen Mun District Office as co-organisers.  It is an activity under the 2017/18 “Strive for Success” Tuen Mun District Primary Students Award Scheme, which aims to encourage primary school students to accomplish goals set by themselves and hence establish positive personal values and life directions.

During the full-day event, participating primary school students attended a lecture on “Transgenerational dining culture and writing” by Dr Siu Yan-ho, Lecturer of the University’s Department of Chinese.  They also participated in discussions, had lunch and interacted with Lingnan students, and joined a tour to campus facilities such as library, gymnasium and student hostels.
