International Day 2018

Officiating guests kick off the opening ceremony of the International Day.

Lingnan University’s International Day 2018 was held on campus on 24 October.  It is one of the proud traditions of the University with the aim of promoting internationalisation and celebrating the beauty of cultural diversity at Lingnan.

Carrying the theme of “A Global Community” this year, the International Day allowed students of Lingnan from different countries and regions to liven up the campus by presenting different performances and booths that feature their traditions and cultures with their amazing talents and creativity.  Just to name a few, there were Korean pop dance and modern dance, as well as singing performance by students from Indonesia and Germany.  Students from over 10 different countries and regions shared with teachers and other students their national delicacies, handicrafts and games at their beautifully decorated booths.

Lingnan University puts strong emphasis on cultural exchange because a major objective of its liberal arts education is to broaden students’ international horizon and exposure for their all-round development.  The University has entered into agreements with over 210 partner institutions worldwide, covering over 40 countries in Africa, Asia, Australasia, Europe and the Americas.  Currently about 85% of the University’s undergraduates (First-Year-First-Degree students only) are able to go on exchange for a semester or attend summer/winter programmes.
