Public activities on campus to promote age-friendly culture

One hundred and twenty teachers and students from Stewards Pooi Kei Primary School visited the newly opened LU Jockey Club Gerontech-X Lab at LU on 12 and 13 December. Elderly University ambassadors introduced a variety of gerontech healthcare, dining, living and transport products, and participants were shown simulations to help them understand more about elders’ daily needs. Scientific lighting experiments were also arranged to explain everyday science such as engineering design principles and life physics to students.

 

In addition, LU’s Asia-Pacific Institute of Ageing Studies organised the Silver Power, Get Set, Go! public forum on 14 December to explore ways to increase civic participation and employment for senior citizens in Hong Kong. Around 380 stakeholders from different sectors talked about how to embrace the silver generation for an age-friendly culture in keynote presentations and panel discussions.
