LU suspends on-campus face-to-face classes until further notice

26 Feb 2020

With regard to the latest developments in the novel coronavirus epidemic, the University has decided to extend the suspension of face-to-face classes of Term 2 until further notice. Real-time online teaching and learning activities, which have been operating smoothly, will continue during this period.

Individual course teachers have the flexibility to decide on the best mode of real-time online teaching based on their professional experience and expertise, so as to ensure that students reach the intended learning outcomes at the course and programme levels. Heads of department should continue monitoring the quality of online teaching and learning.

Since some students may have genuine difficulties in taking part in real-time online activities for various reasons, all students will be allowed to opt for a late drop of course(s) or apply for suspension of studies in Term 2. Details on this and assessment arrangements will be announced later this week.

To allow sufficient time for students who are not in Hong Kong to return, the University will notify students three weeks in advance prior to the resumption of face-to-face classes.

The University continues to monitor and assess the situation closely and will update its decisions as and when necessary.
