Agreement Signing Ceremony of Pan Sutong Shanghai-Hong Kong Economic Policy Research Centre
Lingnan University organised a ceremony on 15 December 2014 when Mr Harvey Lee, Vice Chairman of Goldin Group, Mr Bankee Kwan, Vice-President and Honorary Secretary of the Hong Kong-Shanghai Economic Development Association and Prof Leonard K Cheng, President of Lingnan University signed the cooperation agreement for the Research Centre’s establishment. Apart from the donor Mr Pan Sutong, other officiating guests attending the ceremony included Mr Rex Auyeung Pak-kuen, Council Chairman of Lingnan University, Prof Albert Ip Yuk-keung, Chairman of Institutional Advancement Committee of Lingnan University, Mr Andrew Yao Cho-fai, JP, President of the Hong Kong-Shanghai Economic Development Association, and Mr Tse Yung-hoi, Executive Committee Member of the Hong Kong-Shanghai Economic Development Association.
Establishment of the Pan Sutong Shanghai-Hong Kong Economic Policy Research Centre aims to synergise resources and outstanding economic research expertise in Mainland China and Hong Kong to strengthen research on salient issues related to the economic and financial development of the two places. It will also provide research consultations on industry and economic policies, as well as offering policy consultations and advice to foster the mutual prosperity of Mainland China and Hong Kong.

Tin Ka Ping Mainland Scholars and Senior Administrators Exchange Programme 2014 cum Seminar on “Liberal Arts Education of Lingnan University”
The annual event - “Tin Ka Ping Mainland Scholars and Senior Administrators Exchange Programme” was held on 23-27 November 2014 on campus. A total of 12 scholars and senior administrators from Beijing Union University, Chong Qing Normal University, Chongqing University, Huizhou University, Nanjing Normal University, Nanjing University, Ningxia University, Sun Yat-Sen University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Yunnan Agricultural University and Yunnan University participated in the Programme, in which they sat in a tutorial class, met with students, professors, heads and representatives of academic departments and administrative units to gain a better understanding of the University’s liberal arts education.
This year, President Leonard K Cheng was invited to be the featured speaker of the Seminar on “Liberal Arts Education of Lingnan University” to share his insight and experience in implementing liberal arts education in Lingnan. A total number of 50 local secondary school principals and representatives participated in the seminar and exchanged their views on liberal arts education. The Seminar provided an interactive platform for Lingnan to promote its distinctive liberal arts education to both local and Mainland educators.
The Programme is a philanthropic act of Dr Tin Ka Ping, a keen supporter of Lingnan’s liberal arts education. The Tin Ka Ping Foundation has donated a total of HK$4.2 million to Lingnan University since 2008. Together with the matched grants under the government’s Matching Grant Schemes, the “Tin Ka Ping Education Fund” was established to finance the Programme with the aim of promoting liberal arts education in mainland China.

Lingnan received generous donation from AEON Credit Service (Asia) Co., Ltd. to set up the “AEON Credit Service Scholarships
Lingnan University received a generous donation of HK$100,000 from AEON Credit Service (Asia) Co., Ltd. to set up the “AEON Credit Service Scholarships”. The Scholarships will be established to support students enjoying hostel life on campus.
An agreement signing ceremony was held on 22 October 2014 in recognition of the generous support of AEON Credit Service (Asia) Co., Ltd.

The 15th and 16th Seminar for Senior Administrators from East Guangdong Region
This marks the fifth consecutive year of co-operation between the University and the Federation in organising these annual seminars, with 38 and 39 senior administrators from East Guangdong participating under the themes of “Youth Affairs Management and Leadership Training” and “Urban Planning and Property Management” respectively.
Professors of Lingnan University and experts from government departments and corporations shared their experience with the attendees. Thematic tours and visits were also arranged to enrich participants’ understanding towards the themes. The seminars were sponsored by the Federation of Hong Kong Chiu Chow Community Organizations to strengthen the knowledge exchange between local and Mainland senior administrators.

The ceremony was officiated by Dr Simon S O Ip, CBE, JP, Chairman of The Hong Kong Jockey Club; The Hon Bernard Charnwut Chan, Chairman of the Council, Lingnan University and President Leonard K Cheng.
Comprised of two wings, The Jockey Club New Hall offers about 400 new hostel places, enabling Lingnan to accomplish its goal of providing full residence for undergraduates.

Lingnan Education Organization Ambassadors Appointment Ceremony
The Lingnan Education Organization (LEO) Ambassadors Appointment Ceremony was held at Lingnan Club on 27 May 2014. Dr David Pun Chan, Chairman of LEO and Prof Leonard Cheng, President of Lingnan University, officiated at the Ceremony and presented certificates of appointment to the students. This year, 64 students were appointed LEO Ambassadors. These ambassadors will help to promote Lingnan’s fine traditions and embody its noble mission of “Education for Service”.
Generously supported by LEO, the 10-year “LEO Ambassadors Programme” provides awards and scholarships to recognise students with outstanding academic performance and social service commitment, and to support needy students to go on exchange and enjoy hostel life on campus. Awardees of the Programme are appointed as LEO Ambassadors.

Sharing Session of Lingnan Universty - Chow Tai Fook Student Exchange Scholarships
At the event, Ms Miranda Chan, Project Manager and Ms Alvita Cheung, Project Officer of Chow Tai Fook Charity Foundation, encouraged students to treasure the exchange opportunities but at the same time, contribute back to the community by committing to social services. Scholarship recipients shared their study plans for exchange and participation in community service.
ZeShan Foundation Scholarships Presentation and Sharing Session
Ms. Yan Chan, Programme Director of ZeShan Foundation, encouraged students to treasure the exchange opportunities during the sharing session and promote the distinguished liberal arts education of Lingnan University. Some of the scholarship recipients, who had returned exchange from the Netherlands and UK, shared their views on controversial social issues of the host countries.
The ZeShan Foundation Scholarships were established in 2006 to support students with good academic performance to go on exchange for one academic semester. Up to 2014/15, 107 students had been benefitted from generous support of the Foundation.

AR Charitable Foundation Scholarship Scheme Launch Ceremony
Ms Annie Choi, Commissioner of Insurance of the HKSAR Government and representatives of insurance professional bodies, including AR Consultant Services (HK) Ltd, The Hong Kong Federation of Insurers, Hong Kong Society of Certified Insurance Practitioners, Insurance Institute of Hong Kong, Motor Insurers' Bureau of Hong Kong, Asia Insurance Co Ltd and Bupa, have also joined the event to show their support and share with students the career prospects in the industry.
The scholarship scheme covers a period of eight consecutive academic years starting from 2013/14, providing financial support for Lingnan students to pursue the BBA (Hons) Risk and Insurance Management Progamme and go on to study the MSc Programme in Insurance (or RIM or financial services) at CASS Business School, City University of London. The scheme aims to develop young talents for the insurance industry and includes internship and mentorship opportunities for students.
