MTR New Railway Projects Youth Ambassadors Programme

The MTR Corporation Limited (MTR Corporation) and Lingnan University (LU) organised the Youth Ambassadors Programme, recruiting LU students as ambassadors to promote the new MTR railway projects – the Tung Chung Line and Tuen Mun South Extensions.

The programme recruited and trained more than 20 Lingnan students as ambassadors to primary and secondary schools in Tuen Mun and Tung Chung.

The ambassadors learned more about the MTR projects and their role in Hong Kong’s sustainability and development, and improved their leadership skills. Their sense of responsibility towards the community also increased.

Highlighting the success of the programme, Ms Connie Hon, Chief Corporate Communications Manager – Capital Works at MTR Corporation, said the programme is part of the MTR’s ongoing engagement with the public, and that she believes LU students working as ambassadors can explain these projects effectively to younger students in their own words in the community.

Professor Joshua Mok, Vice-President of LU, said that the University’s motto “Education for Service” means serving society through many different research and knowledge transfer activities. The University uses university-industrial-societal collaboration for a powerful impact on society, encouraging students to contribute their knowledge, values and skills. Students can gain first-hand experience and understanding through this collaboration to acquire a deeper understanding of city development strategies and urban planning.
