The STEAM Education and Research Centre of Lingnan University (“The STEAM Centre”), together with Hong Kong Information Technology Joint Council, Internet Professional Association and Hong Kong STEM Education Alliance, hold a lecture series on "Technology X Finance-the Status Quo and Future Trends of Financial Technology Development". The lecture series aimed to provide practical knowledge of artificial intelligence, big data and blockchain for Lingnan University students and colleagues, and students, teachers and principals of Hong Kong secondary schools.

The purpose of this lecture is to keep up with the global trend of STEM education, in order to raise Hong Kong youth's awareness of innovation and technology, to help Hong Kong youth cope with the rapid development of economy, science and technology, and to cope with the challenges of digital transformation in society. The speakers are prosperous, including Professor Francis Chin, Honorary Director of The STEAM Center, Dr. Dorothy Chau, Director for Hong Kong Tencent Finance Academy, and Mr. Fred Sheu, National Technology Officer, Microsoft Hong Kong Limited. The lecture series combines the power of academia and industry, thus bringing more enlightening and forward-looking learning guidance to Hong Kong students and educators from a professional and social development perspective.

Due to the impact of the epidemic, this lecture was conducted in the form of a ZOOM online conference, attracting more than 170 people to sign up to participate. Participants are more actively asking questions, hoping to learn more about the direction of elective subjects for further studies, how to equip themselves to benefit their future career, and practical knowledge and skills such as innovation and entrepreneurship from the speakers.
