The STEAM Education and Research Centre at Lingnan University (“The STEAM Centre”), Hong Kong STEM Education Alliance (“The Alliance”), Hong Kong Federation of Education Workers, The Faculty of Engineering at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, The Internet Professional Association, and IEEE Hong Kong Section Computer Society Chapter jointly organized the “The Third Future Engineers Grand Challenge ". On 20 August 2021, Dr. Ray Cheung Chak-chung, the Chairman of the Alliance, and Dr. Clifford Choy Sze-tsan, Vice Chairman of the Alliance, presented the trophy and certificate to the awardees.

The Third Future Engineers Grand Challenge

The theme of the competition in this year is "Innovation Future after Covid-19". Following the previous tradition, the competition is divided into 3 groups - primary school, junior high school, and senior high school. There were more than 130 teams participated, which is a record high. Nearly 30 professional jury members led by Professor William Kam-Fai WONG, Deputy Dean of The Faculty of Engineering at The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Vice President of the Alliance, unanimously nominated different awards for each group. The first prizes in each category were "Middle Eyed Boy" from King's College Old Boy’s Association Primary School, "Laughter Catcher 2.0" from St. Paul's College, and "AI Homecoming" from Fung Kai No.1 Secondary School.

Considering the needs of epidemic prevention, the Standing Committee members of the Alliance presented awards and certificates to the schools of the first prizes winners. Teachers and students also shared their ideas for the making of the works and their views on future science and innovation education.
