Laying the Foundations for a Circular Economy: Insights from Europe

Objective:

At the end of seminar, students will be able to:
1. Define the key ideas of circular economy.
2. Recognise the benefits of circular economy for the environment and economic growth.
3. Understand the challenge of achieving the circular economy concept in Asia.

Description:

Students will be introduced to the concept of the circular economy and explain why embracing circular economy principles will be mission critical for firms in Asia and for governments of Asian economies. He will then outline how his team at RMIT has fashioned a role for universities in the circular economy in Australia and provides some suggestions for other universities and researchers that are interested in exploring this fascinating new world of resource efficiency.

Startup Weekend Hong Kong @ Lingnan University Social Impact

 

Objective :

At the end of activity, students will be able to:    

1. Discover the startup potential and new ideas on social innovation.
2. Meet a dream startup team, do market research and build products.
3. Demonstrate their business in front of judges and potential investors.    

Description:

Anyone is welcome to pitch their start up idea and receive feedback from their peers. Teams form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and embark on a three-day frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation. The winners of the competition will get a chance to join the Hong Kong Social Enterprise Challenge (HKSEC).

Objective:

Description:

As an international business city, there are packed calendars of events of all sizes. Every industry, including schools and charitable organisations, would hold events to market themselves, build brand names and partnerships or raise funds, etc. The speaker will introduce different nature of events, techniques on event planning and operations to students as well as her experience in event management, operational management, evaluation and post-event management. This workshop could enable students to understand more about event management and facilitate them to make better event preparation.

Objective:

At the end of talk, students will be able to:  

1. Describe the idea of entrepreneurship;
2. Understand the common risks and opportunities that young entrepreneurs usually miss; and
3. Grasp essential information

Description:

In an artificial intelligence (AI) era that leads to the rapidly changing world of work, some said being entrepreneurs is the best way out. One may believe that entrepreneurial knowledge and skillset of students should be enhanced in this fast-changing world, in particular through innovation and technology. The speaker will share with students about his own experience of being an entrepreneur. At the end of the workshop, students could share their startup ideas with the speaker to explore how to find the pathway from idea to execution, and even impact creation.

資訊科技能力測驗及自學課程                                                                            

Information Technology Fluency Programme (ITFP)

 

 

 

「資訊科技能力測驗及自學課程」包括「資訊科技測驗」及「網上自學課程」兩個部份,旨在確保同學能掌握足夠的資訊科技能力以應付學習及日後工作上的需要。所有自2012-13年度入學的嶺南大學本科生(包括所有三年制及四年制的一年級學生),必須於在學期間通過「資訊科技測驗」合格的畢業要求。

 

取得合格成績可得2 ILP分(智育發展)及由教與學中心頒發的証書一份,並記錄在畢業學業成績表上。參加測驗的次數不限。

凡於 Introduction to Information Literacy課取得合格的學生可豁免有關通過「資訊科技測驗」的要求,但仍需完成ILP的其他要求。

The ITF programme which comprises an ITF Test and an online self-learning programme, equip students with necessary IT skills for their study and future career development. With effect from 2012-2013, all undergraduate students enrolling in a Lingnan University undergraduate programme are required to pass the ITF Test as a requirement for graduation.

 

Students who pass the test will obtain two ILP units in ‘Intellectual Development’ domain and an ITF Certificate issued by the Teaching and Learning Centre. It will also be recorded in the graduate transcript. There is no limit on the number of attempts students can make to pass the test.

 

Students who have passed the course Introduction to Information Literacy will be given an exemption from the IT Fluency Test. They are, however, required to complete all the other university ILP requirements.
