Exploration and Interview Day Sparks Enthusiasm for Lingnan’s Translation Department

The Exploration and Interview Day held by Lingnan University on 15 June proved to be a great success. Taking the Department of Translation as an example, the event attracted numerous young individuals eager to delve into the world of translation.

As professors, we were particularly impressed by the enthusiasm and passion displayed by the students attending the interview sessions. It was heartening to witness their keen interest in our new programme, Translation, Cross-Cultural Studies, and Corporate Communications, and their eagerness to learn more.

In addition to the interviews, the event featured insightful talks by our teachers on translation and cross-cultural studies. The audience was also invited to participate in a quiz game during an interactive session, which served as an engaging and enjoyable way to discuss the topic of business translation.

Overall, the event provided an excellent opportunity for us to connect with young people passionate about language and culture. We hope to continue inspiring and supporting them as they explore new frontiers in the realm of translation and cross-cultural studies.

Prof. Bai gives an introduction to the translation programme, emphasizing its key strengths during the presentation.

Prof. Hui speaks about the significance of cross-cultural studies and the need for a nuanced understanding of different cultures and their impact on communication.

George Chan holds an interactive session on business translation, discussing the challenges of translating business content and the importance of cultural sensitivity and adaptation.
