Undergraduate Programmes

Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) - Risk and Insurance Management Programme

(Direct admission to Year 1 via JUPAS, starting from Academic Year 2016-2017)

The Risk and Insurance Management Programme gives students an in-depth knowledge of industry practices and market trends, meaning they will be able to meet the needs of prospective employers in the banking and insurance sectors in Hong Kong, China and beyond.

The Programme combines theoretical knowledge with practical business applications. It covers everything from the fundamentals of finance and insurance to the principles of wealth management and ethics, thereby enhancing students’ whole-person development and opening up future opportunities. In addition, the Department of Finance and Insurance, which is Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accredited, collaborates with well-known organisations to offer a wide range of student development activities, including exchanges and internships.

Our graduates are well prepared for managerial positions in insurance companies, banks and related financial institutions. They work as insurance underwriters, claim officers, bankers, insurance product developers, insurance brokers, insurance and financial instrument executives and also non-insurance-related administrators, etc.

Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) - Digital Business Stream

(For senior year admission only)

In recent years, highly successful Digital Business developments in the Mainland and worldwide have revived strong interest within the local business community. A strong push for local technology start-ups, backed by generous funding, is being pursued by the government, universities and industry sponsors. Riding the latest Digital Business bandwagon calls for innovative elements in the BBA curriculum, the BBA Digital Business Stream aims to attract high-calibre technology-savvy candidates to apply for senior-year places in the BBA Programme and to meet Hong Kong’s needs for more graduates in Digital Business.

A salient feature of the Digital Business stream is to encourage a culture of “start-ups” and entrepreneurship through contacts with the industry and a curriculum design that culminates in a final year project experience on developing start-up plans.

In order to attract high-calibre applicants from outside the traditional business and management study areas, the proposed Digital Business stream would offer an attractive choice, particularly for technology-savvy individuals with aspirations to engage in business endeavours.  These individuals, having diverse backgrounds in science and technology, engineering, arts and design, etc., would fit well into the ideal profile of Lingnan graduates with a strong awareness of cross-disciplinary applications.
