With the academic support of Tsinghua University School of Social Sciences, Lingnan University’s new Doctor of Business Administration in Global Digital Economy and Governance Programme (DBA in GDEG) officially started classes this September.

This programme intends to broaden the horizons of senior executives and top-tier professionals with doctoral-level training. To celebrate its successful launch, Lingnan University’s Faculty of Business, School of Graduate Studies, and Tsinghua University School of Social Sciences held"The Opening Ceremony of the Doctor of Business Administration Programme in Global Digital Economy and Governance cum Seminar" with prominent scholars and industry leaders as guests.

The opening ceremony was held in the main building of Tsinghua University and online. Participants included Lingnan University President Prof Leonard K Cheng, Vice-President and Dean of School of Graduate Studies Joshua Mok Ka Ho, Dean of the Faculty of Business Leng Mingming, Programme Director Liang Liping and Associate Programme Director Luo Mei, Associate Director of Hong Kong Institute of Business Studies Peng Ling, Department of Finance and Insurance Professor of Practice Leung Chi-kan, Tsinghua University Dean of School of Social Sciences Peng Kaiping, Director of Institute for Chinese Economic Practice and Thinking Prof Li Daokui, Vice-Deans of the School of Social Sciences Zhao Kejin and Meng Tianguang, Director of Institute of Economics Tang Ke, and Deputy Director of the Institute of Economics Ke Rong.

The programme’s Board of Advisory, External Academic Advisors, and experts from various sectors, including Chen Daofu, Xia Quan, Prof Frederick Ma Si Hang, Dr Rex Auyeung Pak Kuen, Dr Lee George Lam, Dr Winnie Tang Shuk Ming, Prof Wu Xiaogang, and Prof Wang Weiquan, also attended this important event.

The opening ceremony featured a dialogue session given by experts. Speakers included Prof Witman Hung Wai Man, Programme Advisor and Principal Liaison Officer for Hong Kong at Qianhai Authority; Dr Wang Zhigang, Deputy Director of the Research Center for Macroeconomics of the Chinese Academy of Fiscal Sciences; and Li Guoping, Director of Microsoft China's financial industry. Among the topics discussed were digital development, governance and talent needs.

Prof Li Daokui, Director of the Academic Center for Chinese Economic Practice and Thinking in Tsinghua University; Dr He Changchui, Academician of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences, Assistant Director-General and Regional Representative for Asia and the Pacific Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, Executive President of The Academic Affairs Committees of The Academy of Digital China (Fujian) delivered keynote speeches. In his speech, Prof Li analysed the future environment of digital business policy and regulations of the digital field in countries around the world, while Dr He spoke about the development of talent and the digital industry in China.

The Lingnan University Faculty of Business launched the DBA in Global Digital Economy and Governance in 2021, supported by the School of Graduate Studies of Lingnan and Tsinghua University School of Social Sciences. Digital China Research Institute (Fujian), Fintech Innovation Alliance, and Hong Kong Cyberport Management Co Ltd are also partners in the programme.
