Hostel Residency for Students with Special Educational Needs admitted to UG Programmes

Question: I have special educational needs and have lived in the hostel since admission.  What is the impact on my residence eligibility under the new Hostel Residency Policy (HRP)?

For Students with Special Educational Needs Admitted to any Undergraduate Programmes

Under the new HRP, students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) or those with special accommodation requirements will be assessed by a Need-based Review Panel starting from the 2025-26 academic year.  These SEN students will be accommodated in the student hostel as far as possible, subject to availability.  Prior to AY 2025-26, SEN students’ residency eligibility remains unchanged.  However, they will still need to submit a hostel application annually, like all other students, to be considered for a place in the student hostel.
