Smart Toilet: Government-Industry-Academic Collaboration

The aim of this project is to develop a smart solution for predictive maintenance of public toilets. The solution is the first intelligence system leveraging on, and integrating innovatively the state-of-the-art deep learning, and associated Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) technologies, in the context of public toilet facility maintenance. This new system is designed for improving the hygienic level, maintenance efficiency, user friendliness and public image of Hong Kong public toilets. The underlying innovative AI model can make the predictive maintenance process fully automated, deliver instant fault alerts and work orders to the servicing contractors in a just-in-time manner before the actual happening of faults. It can construct real time key performance indicators for toilet facilities and environment. There will also be management reports for intelligent analysis and future AI enhancement.
