A Strong and Caring Research Community @ Lingnan

A Strong and Caring Research Community at Lingnan University

Lingnan University has highly acknowledged student research experience and put serious efforts in recruiting research postgraduate (RPg) students from diverse cultural backgrounds. In the 2021/22 academic year, 80% of Lingnan’s RPg students are international students from 10 different countries or regions.

It has been Lingnan’s strategic direction to moderately expand the number of RPg students by recruiting more non-UGC funded students. In the 2021 intake, Lingnan accepted 17 fully or partially non-UGC funded students, which is 54.5% higher than last year’s intake. Among these students. Some of these RPg students were admitted under the initiative of Joint PhD Supervision with Shenzhen University, or through the new Double PhD Degrees programme in Economics with Wuhan University.

On 10 December 2021, the School of Graduate Studies organised a special gathering for research students to share their learning and life experiences with their peers and faculty members of the School. During the sharing session, all the participating students genuinely showed their appreciation of how Lingnan had assisted them adapting to study in Hong Kong. They also enjoy the learning opportunities, such as international conferences and other research seminars, organised by the School. In the event, faculty members of the School encouraged students to engage in collaborative learning, reaching beyond their own research topics to work with other fellows to form a supportive research community at Lingnan.
