RPG students have a pleasurable and instructive time at the Grad School’s Summer Institute

The two-day Summer Institute was successfully held by the School of Graduate Studies on 27 and 28 June at Jao Tsung-I Academy. The event provided opportunities for research postgraduate students to enrich their learning experience by becoming acquainted with the research interests of their fellow students, and forging research networks. More than 40 students and faculty members joined the event in person and online.

Students had a pleasurable and instructive experience at the Summer Institute. Seven workshops were held on the themes of research data management, research impact factors, presentation skills, publication experience sharing, research collaboration experience, job preparation, and entrepreneurship. LU professors and staff, and experts from professional organisations, led the workshops. Students gained many insights, and their research abilities were strengthened by participating in the workshops.

The Summer Institute offered both educational sessions and outdoor excursions, such as the “Victoria Harbour Cruise”. This helped students experience the vibrancy of Hong Kong, and gave them an understanding of its unique culture.

Professor Joshua Mok, the Dean of the School of Graduate Studies, gave the closing remarks, and awarded the students with their certificates. Prof Mok concluded by highlighting the significance of the “Four Cs”: connection, collaboration, contribution, and care for society.
