Introduction

Ikebana originated in Ikenobo, Kyoto, and is one of the most representative Japanese traditional arts. In the Ikenobo spirit, “not only blossoming flowers, but buds, leaves, and withered flowers also shine with the beauty of life.” The Ikenobo school of ikebana has three main arranging styles: Rikka, Shoka, and Free Style. As a traditional Japanese art, Ikebana not only enhances one’s aesthetic sensibility and temperament, but also reduces stress and improves concentration. In this workshop, participants can experience both modern aesthetic elements and the traditional spirit of Ikenobo flower arrangement - creating floral works with respect and learning something about themselves.
