Student-oriented teaching staff

All the Lingnan's academic staff appointed at the rank of Assistant Professor and above hold doctorate degrees. In addition to research, they place special emphasis on students’ learning and personal development.


High standard of research and academic performance

The results of the Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) 2020 announced by the University Grants Committee (UGC) of the Hong Kong SAR amply confirmed that Lingnan has remained true to its liberal arts mission in providing quality teaching and mentorship to its students, while at the same time, demonstrating a deep commitment to research and scholarship. Lingnan’s outstanding research performance in Sociology & Anthropology, Accountancy, Philosophy, and Social Work & Social Policy was internationally recognised. A vast majority of the research submissions made by Lingnan attained “international standing” and above. Some were even judged by international experts as “world leading” standard (4-star) or “internationally excellent” (3-star). In Economics,

Residential campus

Non-local degree-seeking students of UGC-funded undergraduate programmes can apply for accommodation during their study in Lingnan. Hostel living maximises students’ out-of-classroom learning and promotes the development of personal virtues, mutual respect, tolerance of differences, appreciation of cultural diversity, as well as organisational and leadership skills.


Service-Learning

Lingnan is a pioneer in offering service-learning to its students. Service-Learning integrates community service with the students’ curricula and provides a distinctive learning experience for all-round development. It is a graduation requirement for all undergraduate students, thereby signifying the University's commitment to combining community engagement with academic studies and critical self-reflection.
