Booking Procedures and Regulations Governing the Use of Facilities at Lau Lee Yuen Haan Amenities Building

Student amenities are provided to facilitate social interaction, to promote personal and group activities, thus enhancing the quality of campus life.  Lau Lee Yuen Haan Amenities Building provides offices and rooms for meetings and activities of Students' Union, departmental societies, clubs and various interest groups of students. In addition, an artwork room, a music room, multi-purpose rooms and piano rooms are available for a variety of cultural and recreational activities.

Lau Lee Yuen Haan Amenities Building is accessible seven days a week from 8:30 am to 10:30 pm. The Building will be closed during the Lunar New Year Public Holidays and when typhoon signal No. 8 or above, or black rainstorm warning signal is hoisted.

Facilities : Home furniture and a mini-stage

Maximum Duration : 5 hours per booking

Artwork Room

Purpose :  Art-related activities and meetings

Area : 46m2

Facilities : Audio-video system (for OSA only), furniture, taps & sinks

Purpose :  Training classes, workshops and meetings

Area : 67m2

Facilities : Audio-video system (for OSA use only), furniture, taps & sinks

Maximum Duration : 5 hours per booking

Multi-Purpose Room

Purpose :  Training classes, dances and rehearsals

Area : 67m2

Facilities : Audio-video system (for OSA only), ballet bars and mirrors

Maximum Duration : 5 hours per booking

Music Room

Room number : LYH321

Location : 3/F , Lau Lee Yuen Haan Amenities Building

Purpose : Music-related Activities

Area : 78 m2

Facilities : A upright piano, a drum set, sound-proof facilities and furniture

Remarks : For members of Music Society and University Choir only

 

 


Administrative Guidelines for Function Rooms

  1. Facilities are available free of charge to all Lingnan University Students.
  2. Bookings are considered on first-come-first-served basis.
  3. Each group may make no more than 2 bookings per week.  Consecutive bookings on the same day will be regarded as 2 bookings.
  4. Advance bookings of over 3 months for societies use or over 1 month for individual booking will not be entertained unless with written approval of the Director of Student Affairs.
  5. Bookings should be made during office hours at least 3 working days before usage. On-the-spot bookings will only be entertained for use of rooms within the period from 9 am to 5 pm from Mondays to Fridays.
  6. Applicant is required to bring along the copies of the approved application forms and his/her student ID card during the use of the room(s).
  7. Late arrival for more than 15 minutes will be regarded as absence. Office of Student Affairs (OSA) reserves the right to cancel absent bookings without prior notice. 
  8. The Office of Student Affairs must be notified of any cancellation of booking at least 1 working day in advance. Absence for over 3 times without advance notice may adversely affect applicants in booking of campus facilities in the future.
  9. Applicants should check carefully that all facilities inside the rooms are complete and in order before use. He/She should report to the Office of Student Affairs in case of any damage or loss found, or be otherwise held responsible for such damage or loss. Applicants/users shall be liable for any loss or damage to equipment, furniture and fixtures in the venue which may be caused by negligence, unintentional act or any other causes.
  10. Applicants shall keep all venues clean and tidy and be responsible for reinstating the facility to its original condition after usage. 
  11. Expenses incurred as a result of repairs/replacement of equipment / damaged furniture / loss will be borne by the responsible party.
  12. Regulations governing the use of specific rooms should be strictly observed.
  13. Failure to fulfill these requirements may result in suspension of any further bookings of facilities.

Regulations Governing the Use of Music Rooms

  1. Student groups and societies have priority in using music rooms.
  2. Each student or user group may make no more than 2 bookings per week. Consecutive bookings on the same day will be regarded as 2 bookings.
  3. Students should not remove any furniture/equipment in the rooms without prior permission.
  4. Furniture and equipment should be restored to the original positions after use.
  5. Students should be responsible for their own safety within the rooms.
  6. Booking hours are from 7:30pm to 10:30pm on Mondays to Fridays, 12:30pm to 10:30pm on Saturdays and 8:30am to 10:30pm on Sundays and Public Holidays.

  • send to osa@LN.edu.hk at least 3 working days (excluding Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays) before use of the venue.

In person

  • bring the hardcopy of completed application form together with all the necessary supporting documents to Office of Student Affairs during office hours;
  • bookings should be made at least 3 working days (excluding Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays) before use of the venue.
