Recognition Scholarships and Awards Administered by the University

If the value of an award exceeds HK$13,000, the scholarship shall be open for application. This may not apply to some donations where the donor has established an approval procedure, which we have to follow.  A Standing Panel of Scholarships will be set up responsible for the selection.

Entrance Scholarships

A range of entrance scholarships are available to support high-calibre local and non-local students.  Lingnan University Non-local Student Scholarship supports outstanding international students to receive university education, including those from low and lower-middle income countries.

1. Year 1 to Year 3 full-time undergraduate students who are the recipients of Government Tertiary Student Finance Scheme.

2. The awardees should achieve a minimum CGPA of 3.00 who are hostel residents.

4. The awardees should demonstrate a record of community service or charitable work, undertaken prior to their application of the Scholarship.

Eligibility and Criteria:

The Scholarhip Scheme aims to develop professionals in the insurance sector who pursue higher education in the University’s Risk and Insurance Management (“RIM”) Programme.

No. of Awards and Amount: (A) Recognition Scholarships - HK$42,100 each for maximum 9 students from Year 2 to Year 4 ; (B) MSc Overseas Scholarships - approximately HK$450,000 each for maximum 2 final year students.

(A) Recognition Scholarships - Nominations from  the Department of Finance and Insurance shall reach the Office of Student Affairs (OSA).  OSA will arrange selection interview.

甄選準則:

1. 獎學金得獎者須為嶺南大學商學院全日制本科學士課程二至四年級的學生;及

2. 獎學金得獎者必須於過去學年的總平均成績點 (Cumulative GPA) 達 3.2 或以上;及

3. 如候選學生成績相若,其參與課外活動的表現將納入考慮之列。

4. 候選學生於同一學年內,只可獲提名「中銀香港獎學金」或「中銀香港助學金」兩者中的其中一項。

The Scholarships aim to support undergraduate and postgraduate students in fulfilling their early careers in curating by acquiring professional skills and gaining work experiences in museums, galleries and/or cultural institutions through short-term curatorial programmes or internships.

Eligibility and Criteria:

1. The Scholarships shall be awarded to full-time Year 3 and Year 4 undergraduate students, majoring in the BA (Honours) in Visual Studies and full time students studying in research postgraduate programme in the Department of Visual Studies.

2. Awardees in undergraduate programme should have achieved a CGPA of 3.0 or above, together with an average GPA of 3.0 or above in curatorial-related courses (please see the regulations for details). 

3. Awardees in postgraduate programme should have confirmed their candidatures.  If the internships will be taken up during their study periods, the approval from their chief supervisors must be sought.

4. Each applicant should have obtained an admission offer of a short-term curatorial programme or a job offer of curatorial internship issued by museums, galleries and/or cultural institutions in Hong Kong, mainland China or abroad during his/her study at Lingnan University.

No. of Award(s) and Amount:  Ranging from HK$15,000 to HK$50,000 for each student, with a total value of the Scholarships is HK$120,000 per annum.

Eligibility and Criteria:

1. The Scholarship shall be awarded to two Year 2 or Year 3 full-time local students from the LEO Dr David P. Chan Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Data Science and Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Global Liberal Arts Programme. 

2. The awardee should achieve a minimum CGPA of 3.50 in the previous academic year; students who have achieved CGPA of 3.3-3.4 will also be considered if they are highly recommended by their Departments.

1. The Awards shall be awarded to 2 students regardless of their residency status, who are full-time final-year students in BBA – Accountancy Stream or students in Master of Accountancy Programme. 

2. The selection criteria for the Award shall be based on the applicants’ latest overall academic results, their fulfillment of the admission requirements for the Associate Membership of CPA Australia, and their intention to pursue CPA Australia qualification.

3. Awardees should redeem the Award by enrolling the CPA Australia Membership by the end of July each year.

4. Awardees shall not hold the Award concurrently with any scholarship offered by other accounting professional bodies.

Eligibility and Criteria:

1. The Scholarship shall be awarded to Year-2 full-time local undergraduate students majoring in Global Liberal Arts programme (GLAP).

2. The awardee(s) should achieve a minimum CGPA of 3.00 and have achieved a grade B+ or above in each of the four required courses, i.e. Global Inquiry and Research (GLA1003), Global Perspectives from the Arts (GLA1004), Globalisation: Social Sciences Perspective (GLA2001), and Global Business and Management (GLA2003).

3. Candidates shall be required to submit an essay of around 500 words, identifying any socially-significant problem on a global, regional or local scale and suggesting potential solutions that draw from at least three of the four required courses.

Year 1 or Year 2 local and non-local students of UGC-funded programmes, with excellent performance in academic studies, recognised contribution to LU / society, demonstrated leadership and good coomunication skills, and strong commitment to the Hong Kong community.

Scholarship Amount: HK$40,000 for local students and HK$80,000 for non-local students

Eligibility and Criteria:

The ROA aims to support meritorious full-time students of UGC-funded programmes to participate in learning, internship or service programmes, as well as national, regional and international events and competitions that are conducted outside Hong Kong and organised / endorsed by the University. 

Recipients of ROA are only eligible to receive the award once throughout their studies.   

Scholarship Amount: HK$10,000 each

Eligibility and Criteria:

The TDS aims to give recognition to full-time students of UGC-funded programmes who have demonstrated achievements or talent in non-academic areas: (a) Sports and games; (b) Music and performing arts; (c) Culture, arts and design; or (d) Innovation, science and technology.

Scholarship Amount: HK$10,000 each

The Scheme aims to give recognition to undergraduate students enrolled in self-financed programmes.  

Types of Scholarships and Awards:

1. Outstanding Performance Scholarship (OPS) - to award students with outstanding acaemic achivements and other areas.  Scholarship amount: HK$40,000 each for local students and HK$80,000 each for non-local students.

2. Talent Development Scholarship (TDS) - to give recognition to students who have demonstrated achievements or talent in non-academic areas.  Scholarship amount: HK$10,000 each.

3. Reaching Out Award (ROA) - to support meritorious students to participate in learning, internship or service programmes, as well as national, regional and international events and competitions that are conducted outside HK.  Award amount: HK$10,000 each.

4. Endeavour Scholarship (EDS) - to give recognition to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in the pursuit of excellence in academic and other areas.  Scholarship amount: HK$15,000 each.

5. Best Progress Award (BPA) - to encourage and recognise students with significant progress and improvement.   Award amount: HK$10,000 each.

** A student could only be awarded ONE of the scholarships / awards under the Self-financing Post-secondary Scholarship Scheme.

Eligibility and Criteria:

1. The Scholarships shall be awarded to non-final year full-time undergraduate students in the Department of Accountancy in which the programme(s) is/are accredited by the Institute per annum.

2. Awardees should achieve CGPA in 80% out of 4.0 (equivalent to CGPA of 3.20) or above up to the first term of the current academic year.

3. Awardees should be in good character, possess outstanding performance in extra-curricular activities.

  1. The Scholarships shall be awarded to Year 1 full-time undergraduate students.
  2. The Scholarships support students with financial hardship, including students come from families who are the recipients of the Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA), or recipients of Tertiary Student Finance Scheme - Publicly-funded Programmes (TSFS), or was recipients of "Financial Assistance Schemes for Primary & Secondary Students" administered by the Student Finance Office in Secondary 6, etc.
  3. Awardees should achieve at least 40 hours of voluntary service during their studies from Secondary 4 to Secondary 6.
  4. If there are candidates of comparable circumstances, the Scholarships shall be awarded based on voluntary service hours and academic merit.

No. of Awards and Amount: HK$25,000 each for 4 students or HK$20,000 each for 5 students

Eligibility and Criteria:

1. The Scholarships shall be awarded to up to two students graduated from Discipline Major in Economics of BSocSc programme at Lingnan University for further study in MSc. in International Banking and Finance Programme in Lingnan University.

2. The criteria of the scholarships shall be based on good academic performance.

No. of Awards and Amount: Maximum two students, the value of each award shall be full tuition waiver plus a stipend of HK$50,000

1. 獎學金將分配予就讀全日制學士學位課程的本科生。

2. 每名獲獎學金之學生須修讀全日制課程,及其母語為非普通話,並於國家級普通話水平測試中取得優秀成績或有顯著進步。如果候選學生成績相若,其普通話課堂表現將在考慮之列。

No. of Award and Amount: 1 student will receive HK$3,000 cash scholarship, plus one-time student admission fee waiver, and three years student annual registration fee waivers of Student Membership with total value at HK$2,000.  The validity of the fee waivers will be 5 years upon receipt of the Scholarship.
