Beyond the Binary: A Dialogue on LGBTQ+ Experiences and Allyship
This seminar educates students on LGBTQ+ topics, fostering a campus culture of inclusivity and allyship. The seminar will cover a range of subjects, from understanding LGBTQ+ identities and non-binary perspectives to recognising cisgender and heteronormative privileges in Hong Kong. Participants will engage in different interactive exercises to explore and reflect on their gender and sexual identities. By highlighting some particular challenges faced by LGBTQ+ individuals, for example, micro-aggressions in daily interactions and a story from the victim of SOCE (Sexual Orientation Change Efforts), the seminar allows participants to learn the reality of the LGBTQ+ community and ways to become true allies and contribute to a gender-inclusive campus and society.

This Human Library workshop invites participants to engage in a unique and immersive experience where they will listen to and interact with teen patients who have rare diseases, disabilities, and mental illnesses. These young individuals will share their personal narratives, focusing on their experiences and challenges, as well as their participation in the "Together*Dreams Come True" project organised by Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s Adolescent Medical Centre. This project has empowered them to pursue their dreams alongside volunteer partners. The workshop aims to foster empathy, understanding, and awareness among participants about the realities and resilience of these teens, breaking down stereotypes and misconceptions associated with illness and disability.
