Chances are everywhere at Lingnan; the difference is how you grab it. I always believe that university is a key for students to create themselves – What type of person do you want to be?
The Department provides a supportive learning environment by organising a wide array of activities such as career workshops, university competitions, and internship opportunities to help us get prepared for our future career. I am proud to be one of the participants of the Student Enhancement Programme which provides lots of training to sharpen my communication and interview skills. It also broadens my horizons in business perspectives and develops my network via seminars and business-topic discussions. All these experience contributed to the identification of my career goal in the auditing field.

University life, as I expected, has been full of challenges. For example, the continuous coursework, projects, midterm and final examinations provide me with plenty of opportunities to test the limit of myself. My university life also includes discussing projects with others, staying in the hostel or library, taking part in various interviews, and participating in a number of extra-curricular activities. Nevertheless, it is still a meaningful and unforgettable experience. I am glad to be chosen as an accounting student, who is always being taking care of by a helpful department with many nice and easy-going professors and staff members. Although the time spent at Lingnan was short, but I had never regret to be an accounting student at Lingnan.

I had a very rewarding campus life in Lingnan. Dedicated faculty members, the Department’s ambience as well as a well-designed curriculum have altogether made this programme great. The Department is highly committed to providing opportunities and exposure to students. I was selected to take part in a number of case competitions on behalf of the Department, for instance the HSBC/HKU Asia-Pacific Business Case Competition and CFA Research Challenge. The guidance and the business knowledge offered by the Department facilitate students to develop analytical skills and business acumen, which can enhance their competitiveness in the workplace. Blessed to be a part of the Department, I can assure you that your decision to go for the Finance Stream can surely yield unexpected returns.

11 years passed since my graduation from Lingnan in 2007. The good old memories of my university life are still as fresh as if it were yesterday. Academically, I enjoy the structure of the programme which allowed me to learn all-round business knowledge. Being an HR practitioner, it is important to understand the business, so that we can make the most suitable decision. Personally, I always feel blessed to be part of the Lingnan family (in particular Department of Management!) – a truly family. I still remember I was working late in the Department office for the Information Day, a lecturer has come back to the campus just to give us a basket of food and drink. Behind this small action is care, support and motivation which make my university life so enjoyable and memorable.
