Lingnan University establishes new cooperation links with higher institutions in mainland China

Professor Leonard K. Cheng, President of Lingnan University, welcomed Mr. Yong Yang, Director of Hebei Procincial Education Department, and the members in the delegation of Higher Education Representatives from Hebei Province

 

The Hebei Provincial Education Department led a delegation of senior management members of universities in Hebei Province to visit Lingnan University on 9 April to foster the cooperation relationships.

 

Further to the meeting with the representatives from Hebei Province at Lingnan University in January 2019, Lingnan University explored possible collaboration opportunities with 5 universities in Hebei Province, namely Hebei University, Hebei Agricultural University, Hebei University of Science and Technology, Hebei University of Technology and Yanshan University, in the respects of joint programmes in the postgraduate level, research visits, trainings for educational leaders and civil servants in Lingnan University, internships and faculty and student exchange. With the blessings from the Hebei Provincial Education Department, President Leonard K. Cheng signed the Memoranda of Undertaking with these 5 universities during the visit, and an agreement was signed to welcome students from Hebei Province to participate in the Lingnan University Jockey Club Liberal Arts Summer Institute.

 

Following the signing ceremony, Vice-President Joshua K. Mok chaired the meeting with the delegation to discuss the areas of cooperation in details.

 

On 10 April, Vice-President Joshua K. Mok led the members from Lingnan University to receive the delegation from Lingnan Normal University from Zhanjiang of Guangdong Province, which was led by Vice-President Shu Dai. Lingnan University’s background, history and programmes on offer were shared with the visit delegation. The two institutions shared not only their names in common, but also the dedication in the provision of quality education and contributing to the society and the world at large.

 

Lingnan University welcomes students from Lingnan Normal University to participate in her programmes in various levels and professional disciplines. The two universities agreed to further explore collaboration opportunities, including but not limited to the trainings of the academic staff of Lingnan Normal University.

 

“It would be a precious and unique feature if a Lingnan consortium can be formed in the future,” commented by Vice-President Joshua K. Mok.
