Lingnan University supports the Millennium Entrepreneurship Programme (MEP)
29 Nov 2021
Millennium Entrepreneurship Programme (MEP) is organized by Rotary Club of Harmony and Prosperity Hong Kong and Wofoo Social Enterprises, and co-organized with Rotary Club of Hong Kong. First started in the year 2000, MEP is a tripartite project between secondary schools, business sectors and NGOs, designed to prepare the young generation to be future entrepreneurs. MEP aims to cultivate students’ generic project planning skills and open-minded entrepreneur thinking, promote their awareness of imminent social issues and strengthen their understanding of the importance of corporate social responsibility.
The 22nd MEP (MEP22) will take place between November 2021 and April 2022. With the theme “Post-Pandemic Innovation for Social Betterment”, participants will be invited to apply design-thinking concepts to propose related creative products/services to meet the social needs in the post-pandemic era. Each team can explore the theme with respect to four areas: (1) Digital Transformation, (2) Gerontech, (3) Health and Fitness, (4) Smart Learning, with the guidance of mentors assigned. Lingnan University is invited to be the Supporting Organization to provide professional advice and support in Gerontechnology/ Gerontech, e.g. conducting workshops and arranging organization visits, etc.
Professor MOK Ka Ho, the Vice-president of Lingnan University, attended the Opening Ceremony of the MEP22 on 27-November 2021 (Saturday). Over 400 participants, students, secondary school teachers and mentors joined the ceremony on-site and online. Professor MOK delivered a keynote speech at the event and shared the topic of “Promoting Gerontechnology through a Knowledge Transfer Model: The Lingnan University Experience” and how to promote the SDG11 Sustainable cities and communities with the concept of intergenerational harmony.
