Lingnan University and National Chengchi University jointly launch Dual Doctoral Degree in Policy Studies
LU and NCCU are collaborating to launch a new Dual Doctoral Degree Programme in Policy Studies in the coming academic year and signed an agreement of cooperation.
Lingnan University (LU) and National Chengchi University (NCCU) will launch a new Dual Doctoral Degree Programme in Policy Studies in the coming academic year. Students who complete the programme will be awarded the degrees of Doctor of Policy Studies from LU and PhD in Education Policy/Administration from NCCU.
Due to the spread of COVID-19, the signing ceremony was conducted virtually at the two universities on 23 April, with Prof Joshua Mok Ka-ho, Vice-President of LU and Dean of School of Graduate Studies, Prof Guo Chao-yu and Prof Yung-Chi Hou, Dean and Associate Dean of College of Education of NCCU, signing an agreement of cooperation.
“The launch of the Dual Doctoral Degree Programme in Policy Studies marks a milestone between the two leading universities in Asia,” said Prof Mok in his address.
The Dual Doctoral Degree Programme leverages outstanding academics and researchers from the two prominent universities in Asia to provide research training for students with international and comparative perspectives. Apart from LU and NCCU, students will be offered the opportunities to study at the University of Bath to enrich their learning and research experience.
On the same occasion, the two universities also hosted the Symposium on Internationalisation and Quality Management in Higher Education 2020 online, attracting more than 200 scholars and students to participate. .
Prof Mok welcomed the audience by sharing the news that LU has come in second worldwide for “Quality Education” in the latest Times Higher Education (THE) University Impact Rankings 2020, which affirms and encourages LU’s commitment to high-quality liberal arts education.
Prof Shalendra Sharma, Associate Vice President of LU, delivered an opening remark at the Symposium and demonstrated how LU maintains and enhances its quality assurance and internationalisation under the core educational value of “Caring for Learning” and “Impact with Care”.
The Symposium gathered distinguished scholars from the UK, Mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong to discuss the internationalisation and quality assurance in higher education, as well as trending topics related to enhancement practices in higher education, , international student mobility and employment, as well as comparative and international education.
The Symposium was supported by the Asia Pacific Higher Education Research Partnership and the Alliance of Asian Liberal Arts Universities.
