Policy and Comparative Development Studies Seminar Series

The eighth Policy and Comparative Development Studies Seminar Series was held on 24 February 2022. The seminar was presented by Mr. Oteng Samuel Ampadu with the topic of ‘Stereotyping Older Informal Workers: A Systematic Review and Future Research Agenda’.

Stereotyping older workers is a pervasive phenomenon in the global economy. Although policy intervention is imperative in ensuring an all-inclusive and age-diverse workforce, there are sparse published studies focusing on older informal workers who earn their living below the international poverty line. Analysis from a systemic review on workplace age stereotypes in the informal economy is indicative of a critical research need on older workers in the global south where population ageing is rising.
