Lingnan Host Family Scheme 2023/24 Activity Snapshot
During the academic year 2023/24, the Office of Student Affairs organised a diverse range of activities and workshops for host families and students providing opportunities for them to connect and create lasting memories. Students from different countries and host families participated in a variety of activities including local tours, handicraft workshop and barbeque party. These activities allowed host families and students to learn about local culture, build relationships, and develop a sense of community at the University.
Kick-off Reception

In September 2023, the host families and students were introduced to each other for the first time at the Kick-off reception held on campus. They were moved by the touching stories shared by the two participants of the scheme from the previous year. They also enjoyed engaging in friendly conversations with each other in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.
A Symphony of Lights - Harbour Ferry Tour

During the tour, the participants had the opportunity to explore the stunning beauty of one of the world's most iconic skylines, Victoria Harbour, as well as the signature light show in Hong Kong known as “A Symphony of Lights”.
Leather Crafting Workshop

In late October 2023, the “Leather Crafting Workshop” was held for the participants to spend a relaxing evening together and unleash their inner artists by creating beautiful leather crafts with their host family members.
Fire Up the Grill for Chinese New Year – Seaside Barbeque Party

Apart from going sightseeing, the host families and students gathered around the fire and enjoyed a crowd-pleasing Hong Kong-style barbeque together.
Journey to Inner Peace - Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car x Big Buddha Tour

As a wonderful conclusion to the Lingnan Host Family Scheme 2023/24, host families and students visited the world's tallest outdoor bronze Buddha – The Big Buddha. They also had the opportunity to experience the Ngong Ping 360 cable car, which holds the title of being the longest twin-cable cable car system in Asia. Even though the LHFS 2023/24 is coming to an end, the strong bond between host families and students is likely to endure.
