Encouraging results for LU in government research funds bidding

In the 2020/21 Funding Exercise of the University Grants Committee (UGC)’s General Research Fund (GRF), Early Career Scheme (ECS) and Humanities and Social Sciences Prestigious Fellowship Scheme (HSSPFS), 22 LU projects have received a grand total of $10.6 million.

The results represent a 40 per cent, or HK$3 million increase over last year, and a 22 per cent increase in the number of projects.

LU performed particularly well in ECS with a 140 per cent growth in funding over last year, and the number of projects being financed doubled.  In addition, LU’s success rates in the Psychology and Linguistics, Humanities and the Arts, and Biology & Medicine categories are higher than the sector average by 18 per cent, 29 per cent and 69 per cent respectively.
