Lingnan Programme Consultation Day 2019 impresses students and parents with firsthand information and campus experience
On 6 June, the Registry of Lingnan University organised Programme Consultation Day for the first time, offering DSE graduates, non-JUPAS applicants and their parents firsthand information about Lingnan.
During the half-day event, participants attended talks delivered by representatives from three faculties – namely Arts, Business and Social Sciences – and flagship programmes about the uniqueness of Lingnan’s curriculum and mission, as well as sharing sessions held by student about overseas exchange experience.
Admission talks and face-to-face programme consultation sessions offered by teachers and staff were also some of the highlights of the event.
The campus tours took participants around the campus, giving them an exclusive look at various campus facilities, the library and most importantly, one of the hostel buildings which is normally not open to the public. Students and parents were particularly interested in the hostel life and its amenities; as Lingnan is the only university in Hong Kong which can offer 4-year residencies to all undergraduate students.
Marking the occasion, Lingnan also announces the launch of the Principal Nomination Scheme for local JUPAS applicants, an initiative that offers special consideration for applicants who do not meet the minimum requirements of certain programmes but are nominated by their secondary school principal for their outstanding non-academic achievements.
