President S. Joe Qin of Lingnan University shares insights at Digital Universities Asia 2024 in Indonesia

 

Lingnan University participated in the Times Higher Education’s Digital Universities Asia 2024 conference from 1 to 3 July in Bali, Indonesia. This year, the conference focused on transforming academic institutions into more accessible and inclusive environments, and pointed out groundbreaking innovations at the intersection of academic progress and technological advancement. Prof S. Joe Qin, President and Wai Kee Kau Chair Professor of Data Science of Lingnan University, delivered a keynote talk titled "Reimagining Higher Education in the Age of AI", delving into the profound impact of the digital revolution on higher education. It was followed by a roundtable discussion held in partnership with Lingnan University, titled “Building a Future-Ready Institution: Leveraging Technology to Transform Higher Education”, where university leaders explored how Asia’s higher education sector can harness the power of AI and innovative technologies to create an empowering environment for learning and knowledge exchange.    

Lingnan University’s national flag-raising ceremony for the 27th anniversary of the HKSAR

 

Lingnan University held a flag-raising ceremony on 1 July to celebrate the 27th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The ceremony was attended by Dr Ronald Tam Kwok-wai, Council member of Lingnan University; Prof Lau Chi-pang, Acting President; Prof Li Donghui, Associate Vice-President (Student Affairs), senior management, staff and students.   

Lingnan University co-hosts the 11th South-South Forum - leading experts discuss Health and the Road to Sustainability

 

The 11th South-South Forum was held at Lingnan University from 30 June to 5 July, under the theme "Health and the Road to Sustainability". The forum, conducted both on and offline, attracted more than 500 leading scholars, experts, and students from Hong Kong, Mainland China, and around the world. This year's South-South Forum delved into three sub-themes under the main topic: "Cultural Tradition, Physical and Mental Health, and Sustainability", "Health and Sustainability", and "Health and Community Sustainability". In addition to keynote speeches, the film "The Book of Fish" was shown at the forum, and a sharing session held with Prof Dai Jinhua, Director of the Center for Film Studies and Cultural Studies of Peking University, and Dr Herman Yau Lai-to, Hong Kong film director.
