Why LIFE

Established in 2001, Lingnan Institute of Further Education (LIFE) aims at providing high quality programmes that meet the needs of learners, industries and Hong Kong society at large, and offering a well-established learning pathway for learners at different levels. Currently, LIFE provides an array of full-time and part-time programmes for lifelong learning and career advancement, covering Associate Degree, Higher Diploma, Diploma, Diploma of Applied Education, Applied Learning Course, LU Elder Academy, Lifelong Learning programmes and Corporate Training.

「於嶺南大學持續進修學院修讀歷史課程的兩年中,我勤勉求知,刻苦鑽研,在老師的栽培與學院的引領下,我得以一窺歷史學習之真諦。經此兩年,不僅是專業知識,我的學習能力也得到了進步。學院老師兩年來的悉心教導令我受益良多,敬業精神不但體現在課堂中所盡傳道解惑之責,更體現在課後鼓勵學生開拓思維、暢所欲言並親身投入討論,寓學於趣,推動學生好學樂學,營造了濃厚的學習氛圍。作為香港第一所以博雅教育為教育宗旨的大學,嶺南大學始終以最高的育人熱忱詮釋這一宗旨。小規模教學與互動性課堂對師生聯繫的鞏固,多人合作與個人獨立等多種作業模式對組織能力及溝通能力的培養,無不對學生成人成才起到極大推進作用。我深信,這段經歷將為我以後的學習奠定深厚基礎,助力我在歷史領域更進一步。」

Lau Hoi Suen

In 2020, I entered LIFE during the pandemic. I must admit COVID-19 has impacted the whole schedule and arrangements of my classes and examinations. However, I’m still satisfied with the fruitful experience of my studying and hence rewarded with extra opportunities in internships. In LIFE, we share same similar venues, environments, and more importantly, events with the Lingnan University students. There were different types of events and activities for LU students (including LIFE students) to participate in. Take me as an example: I have joined the Volunteer Tutor Scheme for secondary school students, and all of the other students are from the university. Still, I shared the same opportunity with LU students and had a unique experience in the scheme. The fruitful school life has let me stand out from the candidates who also fighting for a spot in degree courses. I’m grateful to be in LIFE and meet great people here.

作為一位運動員,當年選擇繼續升學時,自然希望讀一些運動相關的課程,而最終選擇了在嶺南大學持續進修學院修讀運動 教練及領袖學高級文憑。課程內容包括各種運動教練的理論及實務技巧 (如營養學等),以及籌辦體育賽事的知識,並讓我瞭 解到香港體育的發展潛力及趨勢。這兩年認識了很多不同運動項目的同學,在學習過程中互相交流,而通過老師的耐心教 導,最終我也能順利畢業,亦讓我確立了未來在運動事業的發展方向。現時的目標是順利完成嶺南大學運動教練學及盛事管 理(榮譽)社會科學學士課程,將來投身運動界別,發展所長。
