Tuition Fee

The tuition fees for newly admitted students in the academic year 2024-25 are as follows:

Remarks:

1. A payment advice for the tuition fee of the 1st academic term will be sent to applicants upon notification of the offer of admission.

​2. Along with the tuition fee of the 1st academic term, student also needs to pay:

  • HK$600 graduation deposit

  • HK$10,000 administration fee (for Mainland students only)

 

3. Applicants, who have accepted an offer from JUPAS for (i) a full-time UGC-funded undergraduate programme (programmes offered by HKMU are not UGC-funded), or (ii) an undergraduate programme subsidized under Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors (SSSDP), can apply for a refund of tuition fee. An administrative fee of $500 will be charged.

​4. Deadline for refund application 2024/25:

  • Noon of 9 Aug 2024 (for applicants with JUPAS main round offer)

  • Noon of 26 Aug 2024 (for applicants with JUPAS offer based on rechecking and remarking results)

  • Noon of 29 Aug 2024 (for applicants with JUPAS clearing round offer)

 

5. Late refund applications will NOT be considered.
 
​6. Except for the above condition stated in point 3, all tuition fees paid are neither refundable nor transferable regardless of whether students have attended classes or not.

7. LIFE does not authorize any third parties for handling admissions application.  All fees should be settled directly with LIFE using the designated method.  LIFE ensures fair admission.

 

Financial Assistance

Students who are in financial needs may apply for student financial assistance under the following Schemes through the Government:

Financial Assistance Scheme for Post-secondary Students# (FASP)
The FASP is a means-tested financial scheme offered to eligible students in the form of grant and / or loan. Students who are eligible to apply for assistance under FASP may also apply for student travel subsidy through FASP application.
#Applicant must be aged 30 or below

Non-means-tested Loan Scheme for Post-secondary Students (NLSPS)
The NLSPS is applicable to full-time students pursuing eligible programmes under the FASP. The NLSPS provides financial assistance in the form of loan to eligible students to meet their tuition fees.

 

Extended Non-means-tested Loan Scheme (ENLS)
The ENLS is applicable to eligible students pursuing specific part-time and full-time post-secondary and continuing and professional education courses. The ENLS provides loan(s) to eligible students to settle tuition fees.

 

Continuing Education Fund (CEF) 
CEF subsides adults with learning aspirations to purse continuing education and training courses. About 30 courses are currently recognised by the Continuing Education Fund (CEF) as Reimbursable Courses.

Scholarships and Awards

1. Academic Scholarships
About 50 Academic Scholarships are available annually. The scholarships will be awarded to students according to their academic merit, achievements in extra-curricular activities and contributions to the LIFE or University.

 

2. Articulation Scholarships
To encourage students to further their studies at LIFE, Articulation Scholarship in the amount of HK$2,000 will be awarded to LIFE Diploma and Diploma of Applied Education graduates who have successfully enrolled in LIFE Associate Degree or Higher Diploma programmes immediately after graduation.


Students who completed LIFE Applied Learning (ApL) programme with results shown on their HKDSE certificates and have successfully enrolled in LIFE Associate Degree, Higher Diploma, Diploma or Diploma of Applied Education programmes will also be awarded an Articulation Scholarship of HK$2,000.

 

3. Community Service Scholarship
Community Service Scholarships are awarded to students who have outstanding achievements in extra-curricular activities and have made significant contributions to the LIFE and the community.

 

4. Director’s Scholarship  
To recognise Associate Degree and Higher Diploma students with outstanding academic performance, Director’s Scholarship in an amount of HK$5,000 each will be awarded to student who scores the highest Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of each of the programmes and year of study at the end of the academic year.

 

5. DAE Academic Excellence Award
The Academic Excellence Awards are presented to DAE students who have the best score in DAE core subjects, complementary subjects and elective clusters.

 

6. DAE Outstanding Student Award
To recognize the DAE students with outstanding academic performance, the top three DAE students are eligible for the award with an amount ranging from HK$1,000 to HK$3,000.

 

7. Entrance Scholarships
Entrance Scholarship in an amount of HK$8,000/HK$5,000 is provided to new students who possess outstanding academic performance or special achievements.

 

8. HSBC Vocational Education Scholarship (Hong Kong permanent residents only)
The HSBC Vocational Education Scholarship is provided and funded by HSBC. This scholarship aims to recognize Associate Degree or Higher Diploma student with outstanding academic performance.

 

9. Progression Scholarships
Progression Scholarship of HK$5,000 will be granted as an incentive to Associate Degree/Higher Diploma Year 1 students who progress to Year 2 with the outstanding academic results.

10. Self-financing Post-secondary Scholarship Scheme (SPSS)
The Self-financing Post-secondary Scholarships are provided and funded by the Education Bureau. These scholarships aim to recognize sub-degree students with outstanding academic performance, achievements and talents in other non-academic fields. Under this scheme, there are FIVE types of scholarships, (1) Outstanding Performance Scholarship, (2) Talent Development Scholarship, (3) Reaching Out Award, and (4) Endeavour Scholarship are opened for applications annually; while (5) Best Progress Award is to be nominated by LIFE. The amount of each scholarship ranges from HK$10,000 to HK$30,000 per year.
