Employment Preparation

Difficulties that graduate often encounters when choosing jobs include:

  • Difficulty understanding their own interests and finding a career that fits them
  • Difficulty knowing how to enter a particular industry, even after deciding on a direction
  • Difficulty adapting to a job for various reasons.

We suggest that students should prepare themselves well when they are studying. Three steps of employment preparation:

1. Understanding yourself

Explore your Values, Attitudes, Skills, and Knowledge is one way to understanding your career development direction. By using various psychological assessment tools, you can gain a better understanding of your hidden personality traits, potential and interests. SDO organises personality workshops, such as Personality Dimensions (PD) and Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) regularly. Stay tuned.

2. Career exploration and market understanding

To find the “ideal” job, it is essential to not only identify your own career direction but also understand the market's needs to evaluate opportunities to enter the field successfully. Students can:

  • Explore the training, qualifications, job nature, employment conditions, work hours, and environment required by the industry.
  • Explore and keep abreast of the long-term development potential and direction of the industry

3. Equipping yourself

After understanding your own career direction and market requirements, students should start learning the necessary job-seeking and workplace skills to increase their employment opportunities. SDO provides employment skills workshops and internship opportunities for students regularly to enrich students' experience.
