Xi'an Cultural Exchange Tour 2023

Over 20 Lingnan students visit Xi'an and Zhengzhou to learn their history and development

The successful China Historical and Cultural Exploration Series 2023 is over for the summer.  Over 20 Lingnan students visited the ancient capital of Shaanxi, Xi'an, and the provincial capital of Henan, Zhengzhou, increasing their understanding of China's glorious history and unique culture, and strengthening their national identity. Both tours were organised by the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), and focused on the Chief Executive's 2022 Policy Address stressing the East-meets-West international cultural exchange.

The first, the Xi'an Cultural Exchange Tour, was organised by the OSA and the Hong Kong Central District Commerce and Industry Association. The students visited the Cultural Heritage Research Institute of Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU), where Director Sun Xuanlu, Professor Shi Jianggang, and Professor Xia Qixing showed them China's latest developments in cultural relic preservation technology. They then met Mr. Zhao Feng, Deputy Director of the Xi'an Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, who told them about the city's vibrant tourism and finest foods. The students also visited several archaeological and historical museums and sites, including the Shaanxi Archaeological Museum, South Mount Wutai, the Forest of Stone Steles Museum, Qianling, the Terracotta Army, and Huaqing Palace.
