Prof Li Donghui meets mainland university representatives for residential college education
The “Construction of ‘Four New’ Disciplines in the New Era and University College System” Symposium and the Second Joint Conference of the Chinese Residential College Alliance was held at the Yuelu Academy, Hunan University on 31 May. Over 60 heads, teachers, and students from 15 Chinese universities’ residential colleges, including Peking University’s Yuanpei College and Tsinghua University’s Xinya College, gave insights on residential college education and top talent cultivation.

In her keynote speech, Prof Li Donghui, Associate Vice-President (Student Affairs) of Lingnan University, pointed out that fostering comprehensive and innovative student talents with global vision is a common goal, and that close cooperation and communication among colleges can allow them to draw on each other’s strengths and explore new paths in education. She firmly believes that the Alliance plays a pivotal role in nurturing all-rounded pillars of society in the new era.
Later that day, Prof Li shared her experience in a parallel session, and was interviewed by Hunan University’s media to talk about Lingnan’s new initiatives as a research-intensive liberal arts university in the digital era under the leadership of President S. Joe Qin. She also introduced the complementary features of whole-person education and residential college education in the Lingnan model.
