Hong Kong boasts a subtropical climate, which means that the summers are typically hot and humid while the winters tend to be cold and dry.  It is recommended to wear light and breathable clothing such as t-shirts, skirts or shorts during the summer, while long sleeve shirts, sweaters, jackets and long pants are more suitable for the colder winter weather.

Hong Kong may experience extreme weather events such as tropical cyclones, monsoon troughs and thunderstorms.  Typhoons are most commonly seen from July to September.  When the Hong Kong Observatory issues a typhoon signal No.8 or above, or a black rainstorm warning signal, classes are suspended.  Students are strongly advised to stay indoors until the warning is lifted to avoid any potential harm.
